Lisbon, Portugal

Back from Portugal!

10 days of good hair, thrifting and of course all the food!

Here is my quick list of places to eat, shop and the salon where I got my lovely blow out. Also do yourself a favor and book a photoshoot

We stayed here.

Eats

  1. Swayambhu House We ate here a couple times. The staff treated us like family.

  2. Oficina do Duque This place is a must!

  3. Mendo Cafe for the most delicoius tumeric latte and other coffee drinks and breakfast! Everything is made fresh so make sure you are not in a rush.

  4. Solar31 Amazing seafood!

  5. Martim Moniz Rooftop Bar This was a beautiful view but the food was subpar. Look into rooftop bars ahead of time and make reservations. These hot spots fill up fast on beautiful nights.

  6. Portugalia We watched the Benefica game here.

  7. Pasteis de Belem I know bloggers said this is overrated but we got a table right away and the pastries Were. The. Best.

  8. Time Out Market Great to try all kinds of dishes from around the city.

Thrifting

  1. Well Known Vintage

  2. Reused Lab Her bags are at Well Known Vintage.

  3. Retro City

  4. Retro Queen Vintage Shop

  5. Humana

Scroll to the bottom to see my outfits that I got while I was there. When I travel out of the country I always go with an empty suit case. I love coming home with a new wardrobe!

The Salon

Espaço Brasil Cabeleireiros Sebastian gave me an amazing wash and blow out! I talk more about this below.

Now on to the beauty prep!

Before I go on any trip I make sure my hair is clean and blow out, my body is glowing and my nails are fab.

Book your vacation blow out with me here.

Book your spray tan here.

And I am blessed to have the magical Courtz nails grace my finger tips. Check out her insta here.

Because I’m going to fill my suit case with all the vintage clothes I can find, I only pack my white sneakers, undies and my hair kit.

Hair Kit for vacations and travel.

  1. Small Paddle Brush

  2. Fine tooth comb

  3. Fabric hair ties

  4. Big Claw clip

  5. Small elastics.

  6. A few bobby pins

  7. Products like a mini dry shampoo, gel or hairspray

  8. My new travel curling iron/straigtener

  9. Back up shampoo and conditioner. Please don’t buy over the counter.

  10. Silk Handkerchief…I thrifted mine!

Now the key to keeping your hair kit small is packing a few things of each item. You might not even need all these items depending on how long you are gone for or where you are going.

If you are gone for awhile try to stick to your normal hair routine the best you can. Using similar products, brushing your hair everyday and washing it when it’s wash day will keep your scalp healthy while away.

In Portugal I didn’t have hairspray and my claw clip broke day 1. (Sweet Prince has a tendency to turn them into sharks…)  but I did pack everything else because I new I would want to do different things with my hair.

On Day 3 of our trip I got to use my new curling iron that doubles as a straightener.  I was actually impressed with how my hair came out.

Note: Save this tool for travel only! My tool had no heat settings and that is a sign that this little lady heats on full blast. That is not good for your hair on an every style session basis.  She is fine to use traveling but put her away after that.

My top favorite easy hair styles are the following.

  1. Down and straight, wavy or natural.

  2. Classic pony tail

  3. Up in a clip

  4. My fave- Top bun

  5. Half up half down

Gone for awhile? Treat yourself to a blow out!

I walked by this great place everyday and when it was time for my hair to be washed I was so excited to walk in and book.  Every stylist was always busy cutting, coloring and blowdrying all types of hair. It was clean and classic inside with circle mirrors, lots of beautiful natural light and all the stylists dressed in black. Thankfully taking walk-ins I booked with Sebastian.

Sebastian gave me the best head scrub!! I was taking mental notes for when I wash all my beauties back in the studio. I loved the way he massaged my head.

For the blow out he used a leave in spray. That was it.  You all know how I love “less is more.” We discussed I wanted my hair just blown out straight and he got right to work. He worked quickly section after section.  At the end, he ran serum threw the ends as the receptionist took a video on her phone. I felt so special! I left so happy with my fresh hair. He did a fabulous job!

Total Time: 35-40mins

Cost: 17 Euros

On your way back from a trip, not only are you tired but so is your hair! Book a Conditioning Treatment, trim and blow dry here and you can unwind from your trip with me for a peaceful hour.

I would move to Portugal in a heart beat! But don’t worry, I am in Boston for now. Have you been to Portugal? Tell me below how you love to eat, shop and style your hair when you travel. I want to know!

LOVE & LIGHT!
